Never Before Seen STAR WARS Images

Think you have seen all the behind-the-scenes moments from STAR WARS? Well, Empire Con begs to differ as never before seen photos from late producer, Gary Kurtz, will be on display at the December show. Find a sample of one of Kurtz' photos as well as the official press release below...

Los Angeles, CA, September 12th, 2019 - Today, September 12th, Empirecon LA is releasing a never before seen image that's been scanned from the private film collection of the late Gary Kurtz (producer on Star Wars & The Empire Strikes Back). Standing defiantly against his adversary, Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) faces an advancing Sir Alec Guiness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) while wielding stand-in lances for their iconic lightsaber showdown in the very first Star Wars film.

The photo (above) showcases the exclusive nature and rarity of the images photographed by producer Gary Kurtz during the production of the original Star Wars trilogy which has not yet seen the light of day. Gary always had at least a couple of cameras around his neck, one B&W, and one color. Many of these photos have never been revealed to the public.

The image is one of many that will be on display at a special exhibit at EmpireCon’s inaugural year, to be held at the Marriott LAX this December 6 - 8th.

Other special exhibits will source from the Kurtz/Joiner Archive, the private collection of Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker to create a truly unique experience of rare and previously unreleased materials for guests to enjoy. The official Memorial of Peter Mayhew as announced by Peter’s family on his passing will be held at the convention. There will also be rare autograph signers, vendors, cosplay, crafting, charity auction, photo ops, trivia contest, themed parties, and more.

EmpireCon LA will be releasing the image on their facebook page today 9/12/19 at 4:45 pm PST. https://www.facebook.com/EmpireConLA/

Please use the hashtag #Empirecon and a link to the original facebook source image or link the www.empireconla.com website in any published material to share a copy of the photograph
