James Gunn Back In The Director's Chair For GOTG 3
Last July, I'll never forget being in Hall H (at San Diego Comic Con) and seeing the story come across my feed that James Gunn had been fired from the impending GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3, due to controversial tweets the director had made on Twitter years before. The action, made on the part of Disney, created quite an uproar not just among fans of his (who believed that the director deserved another chance), but also among those his cast (who felt the same). In the time since July, there was a alleged search - reported by some outlets - to replace Gunn.
However, in an amazing turn of events, it appears that director James Gunn will be returning to the MCU to helm the third installment of his GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY franchise! The news comes courtesy of a story by the folks over at Heat Vision, who report that Disney always had the intention of rehiring Gunn. With this begs the question of how or if it will affect his current commitment as writer/director to DC's SUICIDE SQUAD sequel/soft reboot.
What are your thoughts on this news? Are you happy to see Gunn back or do you think that he should have remained off of the upcoming MCU film? Sound off in the comments...
The SUICIDE SQUAD sequel/soft reboot is scheduled to hit theaters August 6, 2021.
