2017 Virginia Film Fest EXCLUSIVE: Special Guest Thomas Ackerman

While its often common to focus on the role that an actor or even a director plays in the making of a film, there are undeniably many other aspects of filmmaking that are equally vital. One great example of such of a role would be that of the director of photography (or DP, if we're speaking the industry lingo). Seeing that they have a major hand in the film's look or aesthetic, they play as vital a role than anyone else in the filmmaking process. With that said, among the special guests at this year's Virginia Film Festival was prolific DP, Tom Ackerman. If his name doesn't sound familiar to you, it should, as the frequent Tim Burton collaborator, worked as DP on FRANKENWEENIE, BEETLEJUICE, NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION, JUMANJI, and JUMANJI (1995).

In this interview with the legendary DP, we not only discuss the prospect of BEETLEJUICE having a sequel, but also what it takes it to be successful in the field. Check it out below...
