 WHO WE ARE

Jahmal Harrell

                 Reporter / Film Critic

I have always loved stories. Whether it's in books or movies, I'm a sucker for a compelling story. Compared to watching television, seeing movies in a theater has always been a visceral experience. There's just something about having the full IMAX experience or sharing an unspoken moment of anguish, joy and laughter with complete strangers. Movies have always had a special place in my heart and that's what brings me back to the theater. As the amount of prequels, sequels and spinoffs increase, I've increased my efforts to see more different, and compelling stories. I hope the reviews that follow reflect my efforts to take my moviegoing off the beaten path.

When I'm not in your local theater, I'm probably at a baseball game or wrestling event.

                    Reporter/TV Critic

Michael loves going to conventions around the US and Canada. He is a fan of all things science fiction and fantasy, especially The Expanse.  If you don't run into him one of the premiere pop culture shows, you can be sure to find him commenting and suggesting what you should be watching on TV.  Aside from all that, he also has a hush-hush project on the horizon as well. STAY TUNED!

                      Emily Whitten

           Reporter/Pop Culture Maven

Emily S. Whitten writes and speaks about everything genre and pop culture, from news, reviews, and interviews to how-tos, convention round-ups, and opinion pieces; as well as writing webcomics and soon, a new three-volume comics project! When she's not writing for fun or profit, she’s sharing geeky thoughts via radio and podcasts, as well as via TV and video.

Emily is a convention organizer and consultant, and co-founder of The North American Discworld Convention. She has served as senior staff for NADWCon and Awesome Con. Emily is a moderator for several genre conventions; and you might also recognize her from her days of answering questions online as her alter-ego, Ask Deadpool.

In her copious spare time, Emily enjoys crafting and cosplay, and looking after her tiny hamster, Lily.

Josh Pritchett

                 Reporter / Film Critic

Josh Pritchett is a writer and movie critic for Movers & Shakers Unlimited. Josh has previously been published in the anthologies Bones III, Kids Vol. 1, and Brave New Girls volumes on one and two. He resides in Virginia where he is an avid weightlifter and studies the Klingon language and culture.

                           Chris Pabon

              Reporter / Con Connoisseur

Originally from East Tennessee, Chris is not only a fan of anything with the word "Star" in front of it, but also of pop culture in general - possessing a vast knowledge of movies, tv shows, comic books and public arts.  Known in the DC area for his signature Dick Tracy cosplay, Chris attends Cons all over the United States & Europe and is passionate about the inner workings of Cons not just for the sake of fans but for Con organizers as well.

 Shamella Tribble

                 Reporter/Film Critic

Hailing from Queens, N.Y., this horror movie fanatic got started with films such as Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th at a young age. She has been in love with horror movie villains ever since. In the recent coming years she has broadened her love of all things nerdy to include the genre of sci-fi as well. Her Friday night preference is to curl up on the couch watching the sci-fi channel rather than hitting the bar or club scene. Wanting to go see the newest scary movie? She's your girl!

      Dan Duran

Reporter / Resident Comic Book Critic

Currently residing in DC, Dan Duran is a retired professional wrestler who never actually stepped foot in the ring.  Or trained for it.  Or did anything other than watch it, really.  In addition to professional wrestling, Dan is a fan of comic books (with a slight preference for the Distinguished Competition), video games, sci-fi in general, and professional and college football.  When he can find the time and money, he also partakes in cosplay.
